This week I worked on Nelophobia, the fear of glass. I wanted to do this from the start, but I kind of put it off because painting glass is really hard to do. As per I started with iterations.

I knew I wanted her to be broken from the beginning, to show how fragile glass can be, and I didn't really want clothing because I didn't want to hide the glass. I decided to go with the blue one, no real reason other than it appealed to me the most. I worked on it a little more to get a more refined concept.

After this I started working on the illustration. This one took a lot longer than others, because glass is really hard to paint.

At this point I wasn't really too happy with the illustration, the pose mainly. So I basically started again.

This was the first sketch, I prefer this composition because it's more inclosed and she seems more scared which is what I wanted.

This is the final illustration. I'm not sure how much it looks like glass, and I found that very difficult. I had ref of glasses and glass bottles, but it was really hard to translate into a figure. I'm pretty happy with it though, I do like the overall look of it I just wish it looked a little more like glass.
