Week 2! This week I'm working on the fear of going blind/ fear of blindness which is Scotomaphobia, weird long name. This week I'm trying something a bit more realistic. I started out with iterations of the character, I knew from the start I wanted eyes to play a big part in this character, there's something really creepy about eyes that I thought would translate well to my character.

Since this character is based on blindness, I wanted her to actually be blind. But I wanted it to look creepy. I played around with different reasons for being blind, such as eyes gouged out, no eyes to begin with and a blindfold, and I then played around with the idea of her holding onto an eye and that was her way of seeing, or even the tattoos on her body. This character is definitely more realistic, which I'm happy with.

I really liked the tattoo idea, so I decided to iterate it further. I wanted to include her holding an eyeball of some form, either to use as a means of sight or she's collecting other peoples eyes so they feel the same as her.

I also decided to do a few hair style iterations, however I decided to just stick to the straight hair I already had. I do really like the hair style on the right however, so I might try to incorporate that into a different character.

With the iterations done I decided to move onto the final concept. I started working on this at the end of the week so this is a really rough start to the final concept. I'm pretty happy with the pose however next week I'm going to work into it a lot more and then work on the illustration.
